The Value of Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments have many benefits, including short-term and long-term pain relief, enhanced mobility, and improved reflexes. Additionally, studies have shown that adjustments can lower blood pressure, and the release of endorphins that occurs during an adjustment can lift a person’s mood.

Techniques Tailored to Each Person

Dr. Rick Nyhan adjusting a patientDr. Rick uses the adjustment technique that is right for the individual practice member at It’s An Adjustment Chiropractic.

In most cases, he finds that the Diversified Technique works best, and has the fastest results. This technique is designed to restore proper alignment of the spine, bringing back movement and easing joint dysfunction. Vertebrae which have lost their normal motion or position are identified and corrected though a specific manual thrust.

If best-suited to the individual, Dr. Rick will use a more gentle technique. In the Activator Method, a small, hand-held instrument is used to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine, with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted area. Dr. Rick will use this gentlest of technique on young children, practice members who are in severe pain, or those suffering from osteoporosis.

Another approach used by Dr. Rick is the Thompson Drop-Table Technique, in which a special table with segments known as “drop pieces” is used. These segments lift up, and then drop a fraction of an inch when the adjustment thrust is delivered, minimizing the force needed for the adjustment.

Whatever technique is used, chiropractic adjustments are safe and pain-free.
